Stanly County sheriff investigating triple homicide

 

ALBEMARLE — According to sources at the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are investigating a crime that left three people dead and one in serious condition on Thursday morning.

According to law enforcement sources, around 6:30 AM, emergency response was contacted by a witness saying a young man was yelling in a yard near Canton and Burleson Roads in Albemarle. Emergency medics and law enforcement arrived on the scene and found the young man with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen. According to law enforcement, the alleged victim said he had been shot by a family member at a house nearby. The young man said he was shot and escaped out a window.

Stanly County Sheriff’s deputies made a security check of the house identified by the young man. Inside, officers found three deceased persons, including the alleged assailant identified by the young man who was shot.

The young victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition awaiting surgery, according to law enforcement reports.

According to WSOC, the three people found dead in the home were Donnie Furr, 74, wife Elaine Furr, 76, and daughter Paula Furr, 54. The young man who was wounded, according to WSOC, is Paula Furr’s 24-year-old son.
