ALBEMARLE — The Stanly County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on Monday, Sept. 7 at 6pm in the Commissioners Meeting Room at Stanly Commons.
According to a release from the county, the purpose of the meeting is to to conduct a second public hearing related to the county’s application for a Community Development Block Grant Neighborhood Revitalization grant, approve a budget amendment for Senior Services, and to hold a closed session to discuss a real estate transaction.
Stanly County is working with the Centralina Council of Governments (CCOG) to submit an application for the CDBG grant. These grants will target housing rehabilitation for qualifying elderly and disabled low-to-moderate income homeowners in the county. The maximum grant award under this program is $750,000.
The board previously held a public hearing on the grant at their Aug. 6 meeting and a second hearing must take place before the application deadline of September 28, 2018. The second hearing was previously set for the regular meeting on Sept. 4. However, the hearing was not on the public agenda for that meeting. There were no public comments at the first public hearing.
