Republican Cody Huneycutt wins NC House District 67 seat

Huneycutt finished with over 75% of the vote

RALEIGH — On Tuesday night, Republican Cody Huneycutt defeated Democrat Daniel Quick in the race for the NC House District 67 seat.

Huneycutt, who received 75.14% of the vote to Quick’s 24.86%, is the policy advisor to Republican Rep. Wayne Sasser, the seat’s current occupant. Sasser previously endorsed Huneycutt for the seat after announcing that he would not be seeking his fourth term.

Since 2023, the district has included all of Stanly and Montgomery counties. Inside Stanly County, Huneycutt had 77.33% and Quick had 22.67% of the vote.

“Yesterday was an incredibly amazing day,” Huneycutt wrote in a social media post on Wednesday morning. “After a record turnout in both Stanly and Montgomery counties, the votes were tallied up and I am honored to be elected as the next North Carolina Representative for House District 67.”

“I cannot express how humbled I am by this opportunity and how excited I am to get to work for my constituents starting in January. My wife and I are grateful beyond measure for all of the thoughts, prayers and offerings of support that we have received throughout this process!”

In the Republican primary back in March, Huneycutt had 63.72% of the vote, besting Albemarle resident Brandon King’s 36.28%.

“I would like to ask that you continue that throughout this upcoming term,” he continued. “I would like to take a moment to say thank you to all of my family and friends who have played a role in this journey. Without the support of those who value our community, this outcome would not have been possible.”
