Ryan Collins, a senior on the West Stanly boys’ golf team, is the Athlete of the Week.
Collins was runner-up for the Rocky River conference player of the year award, the second year in a row he’s finished in second place. Last year, he tied for the title then lost in a sudden‑death playoff. He was also named to the all-conference team.
Collins went on to states and was the only member of the Colts to place at the 3A golf championship at Stonebridge Golf Club. He finished with a first-round 74 and second-round 83 for a 157 two-day score. That was good for a tie for 29th place.
