Albemarle Police Department opens homicide investigation

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is also involved

ALBEMARLE — On March 1, the Albemarle Police Department revealed in a media release that it is investigating a homicide that occurred earlier in the day at the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue in Albemarle.

Both the department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are following up on leads in the case at this time.

At approximately 1 a.m. on March 1, APD officers were called to the area for a well-being check, where they shortly found a deceased male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. 

As the APD works to notify the family of the deceased, the name of the deceased is currently being withheld.
