Senior citizen arrested in significant drug bust

ALBEMARLE — The Albemarle Police Department released a statement on Monday, July 13 announcing the arrest of 83-year-old Clyburn Roy Moses Jr. for a number of drug and other offenses.  

The APD said they executed a search warrant on 316 Hillside Lane and found Moses inside with numerous illegal items. Their search uncovered about 40 grams of cocaine and “crack” cocaine as well as marijuana, which he is suspected of intending for distribution.  

Moses also had moonshine or “non-tax paid liquor,” as well as property believed to be stolen.  

Detectives arrested Moses and he was charged with: Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Manufacture Sell and Distribute Sch. II, Possession with the Intent to Sell and Distribute Cocaine, Possession with the Intent to Manufacture Sell and Distribute Marijuana, Maintain a Dwelling for Controlled Substances, Possess of Drug Paraphernalia, and possession of Non-Tax paid Liquor.  

Moses was transported to the Stanly County Jail where he is being held on a $150,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on July 27.
