OAKBORO — Oakboro Tractor will be opening a new store this month called Carolina New Holland in Oakboro which will sell equipment and parts and provide service.

Carolina New Holland will offer large farm equipment along with construction equipment. It will have everything from small tractors to hand tools. New Holland is a global brand of agricultural machinery and started in New Holland, Pa., in 1895.

Brandon King, general manager of Oakboro Tractor, believes the addition of New Holland to the market will be good for consumers as it will introduce another high-quality local competitor to the large farm equipment category.

“It is giving farmers an option other than John Deere,” said King.

Carolina New Holland will be bringing in business from six surrounding counties; Stanly, Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Richmond and Union.

Joel Thomas, owner of Oakboro Tractor and Carolina New Holland, sees a bright future for this new business.

“There will be future expansion and there is more to come very soon,” he said.

This is Thomas’ first New Holland dealership, but he has been in the agriculture business for 27 years.

The new dealership, located at 1429 North Main St. in Oakboro, will be a 10,000-square-foot building with six shop bays. The parts and service departments will cater to all brands of farm and construction equipment.

A 24-hour service line will be available for people to call for on-location services.

King is currently working on staffing the new facility.

“This is a good thing for the community, because it is bringing jobs to the community,” he said. King estimates that the store will create approximately 15 new jobs.

Carolina New Holland is offering two meet-and-greets where farmers can come out and get to know the products offered. The first will be Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Ladybugs Restaurant on Carswell Street in Wadesboro, and the second will be Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Jay’s Seafood on Stony Gap Road in Albemarle.

The soft opening will be Feb. 20 with the grand opening in April.
